Will deadly secrets stay concealed?

Old Captain Orbus commandeered a ship to flee Spatterjay, desperate to escape the violent planet. Orbus' alien enemy, the Prador Vrell, is also moving on. The Spatterjay virus mutated him into something even more dangerous. And he's hunting the Prador King himself - who sought to kill him, to bury the secret of their similar transformations.

Orbus and Vrell clash in the Graveyard, a lawless zone where the Prador have seized a key space station. Official action by humanity or Prador would end peace, as a centuries-long cold war simmers. So Earth commands Orbus to destroy the station, even as the King recruits a monster to exterminate Vrell. But their actions will awaken an intelligence that annihilated civilisations, as it stirs after five million years....

Orbus The Spatterjay Series Book 3 (Audible Audio Edition) Neal Asher William Gaminara Macmillan Digital Audio Books

We all should be reading nonfiction books on serious topics. Or at least gritty works of sober social realism that deepen our understanding of the human condition.
But for a good time, dial n-e-a-l-a-s-h-e-r. Sometimes, a guy (and I think these are 'guy' books) needs to get down to his bad self, and live the life of an old captain, an intergalactic 007, or a semi-reformed war drone, get out of the dull world of civilized adulthood, and kick some alien booty. I notice that as the years go by, Mr Asher's universe becomes more nuanced, and the good guys and bad guys are becoming more complex, but that's a pleasure too, now that Iain's big shoes are empty.

>>>. I wish there was more. Finished all of mr ashers 'polity' books. (. Need more sir . Thanks. K
This was pretty entertaining. It is off the wall with the aliens as giant crabs, and smart ones at that. Who knows what creatures live in the outer reaches of space. I really enjoyed the characters and their personalities as the story developed. Not you average space journey!
It's a great book, but sadly the end of the trilogy. As the name implies, it follows Orbus, with additional viewpoints from other characters. What can I say? It was awesome. I find it amazing how Neal Asher makes me enjoy reading about characters I didn't like in prior books. I'm ready for a return to Spatterjay already.
I was hooked on the "Polity" universe right from the first book by Neal Asher (GridLinked). The Spatterjay series is an off-shoot of the Polity series (involved in this book). Combine old guard Norton, with Larry Niven, and Hamilton, and you get a series of books that are very enjoyable to read. For some reason, the Asher books are not as well distributed in the U.S. as the U.K. Although not deeply intellectual, it is a fun read, really entertaining, don't want to put down kind of book, loaded with action. This book (if you are a hard sci-fi aficionado) is a book that will make you glad you spent the money. WARNING Even though this book can be read as a stand alone novel, reading the first two Spatterjay novels, before reading Orbus, definitely improves the experience.
Classic Asher! Good read, great technology as always, and even some decent (and just a little bit ham fisted at times) character development. It also ties up some of the outstanding questions left in both the Spatterjay and Polity series relative to the Prador and the Jain... even bringing back our good friend the intrepid Sniper! I will leave it at that so as to not spoil the story. Now that I have read everything from these two series, I'm hungering for more of the Polity much the same as I hunger for more of The Culture from the late (and great) Mr. Banks (RiP). In the meantime, I'm switching to The Owner series and already am enthralled with book one. Enjoy Asher fans!
Brilliant, exiting, incredibly imaginative...almost describes every Neal Asher book doesn't it. I didn't think he could top the incredible The Skinner and The Voyage of the Sable Keach, but not only did he, the story expanded again and got even more complex and fun.

With this book I've about completed by binge-read of Neal Asher's bibliography and I'm rereading Prador Moon right now so I can start over. And I never reread books, except LOTR and Sir Terry Pratchett.
My favorite Prador comes into his own....with the help of my two favorite drones. Rereading this, I picked up several things regarding Jain soldiers I missed the first time through. I’ll be reading “The Soldier” again, now...Neal Asher gets it done once again.
